Former Governor of Rivers State and Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation Yesterday boycotted the Rally Organised by the Leadership of the All Progressive Congress(APC) to Formally receive the Former Akwa Ibom State Governor and Immediate Past Minority Leader of the Senate Senator Godswill Akpabio to the All Progressive Congress.
Akpabios Defection which held at Ikot Ekpene township stadium on Wednesday had in attendance Over 30 All Progressive Congress(APC) senators led by Senate Majority Leader, Ahmed Lawan and members of National Working Committee (NWC) attended the Declaration.
However the Former Governor of Rivers State,Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation and self acclaimed Leader of the All Progressive Congress(APC) in South South Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi was conspicuously Missing at the Declaration Rally of Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Senator Magnus Abe,Amaechi’s Political Opponent over who controls the Structures of the All Progressive Congress(APC) in Rivers State,National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress Comrade Adams Oshiomele and the Leader of the All Progressive Congress Senator Bola Tinubu were all present during the Rally.
Investigations By PUO REPORTS on Thursday revealed the Former Rivers State Governor Mr Chibuike Amaechi travelled outside the Country to avoid the defection Rally in honour of Senator Godswill Akapbio.
”Amaechi Strongly opposed the coming to APC of Senator Godswill Akpabio because he said Akpabio’s acceptance will spoil so many things for him” a Member of the All Progressive Congress privy about the development told PUO REPORTS on condition of anonymity on Thursday.
Recall that Amaechi who is also the Director-General of President Muhammed Buhari’s campaign organization had lastweek confirmed the defection of Senator Godswill Akpabio from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressive Congress.
PUO REPORTS gathered that the Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State Senator Godswill Akpabio also met with Amaechi at his Abuja Residence to notify him about his plan to Formally Defect to the All Progressive Congress(APC) on Wednesday 8th August 2018.
It was gathered that both President Muhammadu Buhari,National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress Adams Oshiomele and Former Lagos State Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu have all given approval to Senator Magnus Abe to flag the Governorship flag of the All progressive Congress in Rivers State in 2019,while Amaechi was asked to nominate Abe’s Deputy.
Amaechi however is not comfortable with the arrangement being spearheaded by the Nationa Chairman of the APC Comrade Adams Oshiomele.
Amaechi was said to have traveled outside Nigeria to register his disapproval over Akpabios Defection to the APC.
