…for Rejecting Nsima Ekere’s Aspirationon

Except something is done urgently, the Methodist Church Nigeria in Ikot Ekpene arch diocese may face avoidable human losses as a manhunt on her clergies has allegedly been hatched by Senator Godswill Akpabio.

A group of thugs and serial killers have been mobilized to ‘deal’ with Bishops and Archbishops for the embarrassment they caused Senator Akpabio and his wife Unoma during the presentation of a new lay president for the diocese last Sunday in Ukana.

During that ceremony, the Most Rev. Sunday Uko had stopped the wife of Senator Godswill Akpabio from resorting to political campaigns for Nsima Ekere in church, but together with her husband, Mrs Akpabio had rebuffed the diocesan Archbishop of Ikot Ekpene.

“You cannot stop me and my wife from speaking politics inside here or anywhere, not while I am alive,” Akpabio snapped at the priest, forcing the man to abandon the church.

Not satisfied, the senator, in continuation of his Warsaw agenda is said to have sent thugs to attack Rt. Rev. Robert Egwenre, the Bishop of Essien Udim.

The thugs who came from Ukana stormed Rev Egwenre’s house armed, but where unlucky as the man of God was nowhere to be found.

They thereafter threatened the wife of undesirable consequences, should she fail to stop her husband and other Methodist Church priests from further ‘disrespecting’ Senator Akpabio and his wife.

They also warned the Archbishop of the diocese, Sunday Uko, vowing to bring him down following his utter spat with their leader, Akpabio.

It is not yet clear if the Methodist Church leadership in Ikot Ekpene have reported the matter to the police, but an inside source confided in our reporter that there is increased security watch on the Archbishop, who is not ready to go against the decision of the state Christian leadership, CAN, which has endorsed Governor Udom Emmanuel’s re-election.
