Joy Ota Wins 2018 Abia One Day Governor

At a colourful essay competition held at Vicar Hope Foundation Ogurube Layout Umuahia, involving schools across the State, Ota Chineme Joy, born on 25th June 2000, (18 Years) a student of Ohafia Girls Model Secondary School (OGMSS) emerged after recording the best score in the Debate, Quiz and Essay competition organized during the screening exercise.

While Harmony Chikere, born on April 24th 2004. (14 years), Of Balm Of Gilead International, 14 Dike Close World Bank Housing Estate Aba emerged as Deputy Governor.

This is as Chike Onyinyechi, of Girls Secondary School 1, Abayi, Umuocham Aba becomes the (SSG).
The quiz featured series of questions on General Knowledge, Current Affairs and Sciences with the 90 participants answering five questions each in the first round after which the second round comprised of top 35 participants from the initial 90 who had the opportunity to answer two questions each.

The top twenty students emerged after the third round of questions and answer segment and debate and would go on to form the One Day Government of the State with the best Student emerging the One Day Governor of the State.

The Winner, Miss. Ota Chineme Joy will follow the steps of Miss Joy Ezechikamnayo who was the 2017 Abia Teen One Day Governor. Recall that Miss Joy Ezechikamnayo was the first One Day Teen Governor of Abia State in 2017.

It will be recalled that Abia State maintained the top position in West Africa School Certificate Examinations for the fourth consecutive year.

Students of Abia State educational system are also remarkable top performance award winners at various international tertiary institutions including Europe and USA.
