Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has constructed three hundred and fifty nine (359) new classroom blocks across Abia State since 2015.

In addition, his administration constructed 4 new model schools at Ohafia, Umuahia, Abayi Osisioma and Osusu Amaukwa in Obingwa. The model schools are designed to be sample structures for current and future proprietors of private schools in the state.

Each model school, which is designed to serve nursery, primary and junior secondary school students, come with the following features:

-10 classroom blocks with courtyard in the middle and a Sick Bay
-5 Classroom blocks
-3 Classroom blocks
-Offices for head teacher and other teachers within the blocks
-Multiple toilet facilities
-Stores within the blocks
-Fully furnished classrooms with 20 units of 2-seater desk per classroom made of mahogany wood and galvanized pipes
-White boards with markers
-Fans for classrooms and air conditioners for offices
-Playing fields
-Ramps for physically challenged persons
-Staff quarters of 3 bedroom flats
-Student hostels
-10 KVA Solar power supply system
-Perimeter fencing with wire gauze for security of students and teachers
-Water supply through a borehole system
-Conventional and E-libraries
-Science Laboratories
-Step tile roofs
-PVC ceiling and terrazzo floors
-Tiled outer areas of classroom and offices
-Specially selected teaching staff with minimum qualification of Bachelor degrees
