▪they claim Amaechi is holding him against his wish

Following the sudden defection and withdrawal of Former AAC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Chief Akpo Bomba Yeeh to the PDP, Rivers State AAC members have launched an online campaign tagged #freeawara where they called on the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to free the defeated candidate.

It was learnt that after Yeeh’s defection, Amaechi and his security personnel have whisked Awara away to an unknown destination.

The fear of the Amaechi faction is founded on calls by Awara’s relatives asking him to defect and pledge loyalty to Governor Wike.

The relatives from Kula met Awara on Monday morning and warned him of the consequences of playing alongside Amaechi, which they claimed would translate to modern day slavery.

The defected Deputy Governorship, Bomba Yeeh said Amaechi forced him to sign undated letter of resignation, insisted on making 90 percent appointments. He added that Amaechi said he would rig the elections in their favour and be entitled to control the finances of state.

The Rivers AAC members and relatives of Awara believe that he is being held by the Minister of Transportation against his wish.

The relatives opine that the defeated Governorship Candidate may have concluded plans to pledge loyalty to Wike, hence the new scheme by Amaechi.
