The Bayelsa State Government has called on oil multinationals and other agencies in the state to give fifty percent employment opportunities to women.

Wife of the Bayelsa State Governor, Dr. Rachel Dickson made this call in Yenagoa. The governor’s wife said any violence against women must be treated as a criminal case.

The celebration of the International Women’s day in Bayelsa State was unique as women from the eight council areas of the state trooped out in their numbers at the Peace Park Yenagoa to celebrate womanhood.

The convener of the event and wife of Bayelsa State Governor, Rachael Dickson used the occasion to re-echo the need to give the women a pride of place in both government and private sectors.
The governor’s wife also advocated for a fifty percent stake for women empowerment.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is “balance for better.”
