No Going Back Over Shutdown of Brothels in Umuahia- ABSG

The  Abia State Government said its attention has been drawn to reports that hoodlums, commercial sex workers and drug dealers who were previously dislodged from brothels located along Calabar road, Arochukwu street and other locations within the Isi gate area of Umuahia are gradually returning back to resume their unlawful activities.

A Statement signed by Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, PHD Deputy Chief of Staff,
Office of the Governor said the State Government has not reversed its earlier Directives.

“We wish to state that at no time did Abia State Government reverse it’s earlier directive that they vacate the aforementioned areas and other similar places within Umuahia and environs”

“Security agencies in the state, especially the police, are hereby directed to fully enforce the subsisting directive of the Governor as well as take additional measures to rid Umuahia, Aba and other towns in the state of criminal hide outs”

 

The Statement called on Commercial Sex Workers affected by the Directive to avail themselves of the free Vocational training offered by the State Government.

” Commercial sex workers affected by this directive are expected to avail themselves of the FREE vocational training offered by the Government through the State Ministry of Women Affairs in conjunction with the Education for Employment unit of the government”
