History was made today as the Member representing Umuahia Central State Constituency in the State House of Assembly and immediate past Majority Leader of the House , Rt. (Hon.) Chinedum Orji (Ikuku Oma Abia) was elected the Speaker of the 7th House of Assembly.
His election today followed an overwhelming victory secured at the inauguration and first session of the 7th House of Assembly.
Prior to this inauguration today, Rt. (Hon.) Chinedum Orji had already gotten endorsements by majority of the members-elect of the House of Assembly, thereby making the atmosphere conducive for his emergence. One particular endorsement that was of great significance and culminated to his emergence was that of the entire twelve newly Members-elect of the House, which was widely reported a fortnight ago.
It is my honour and privilege to present this astitute politician to the public. This man of the moment and great leader of our time, Rt. (Hon.) Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji was born on December 25th, 1970 to the amiable family of Chief T. A Orji, a political juggernaut from Amaokwe Ugba, Umuahia Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government Area. Chinedum Orji started his academic pursuit in Ugba Community Primary School between 1976 and 1982, from where he proceeded to Government Secondary School Owerri, between 1982 and 1987 and in 1989, quest for higher education made him to enroll in the prestigious Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), where he earned a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering in 1996.
A mobilizer of high repute, Engr. Chinedum Orji grew to become a great politician and a defender of the younger generation. He picked interest to vie for Member of the State House of Assembly in 2015 and was overwhelmingly voted-in to represent his people. In the course of his representation, Engr. Orji was elected by his colleagues as the Majority Leader of House, a position he handled very well from inauguration day to the validatory day of the 6th House. Again, Engr. Orji was re-elected this 2019 to continue his good work in the State House of Assembly. This time around, a higher responsibility has been bestowed on him as he has now emerged the Speaker of the 7th House. It is obvious that Rt. (Hon.) Chinedum Orji, the IKUKUOMA ABIA posseses the clout to lead the State House competently. Rt. (Hon.) Orji is Well-groomed, educated, well-informed, outspoken and mature. He has what it takes to galvanize the legislative house for better legislative business in the State in the next four years of this 7th Assembly.
As the newly State legislative house has inaugurated the principal officers led by Rt. (Hon.) Chinedum Orji, the Honourable members, Clerk of the House and entire staff of that arm of government in Abia State are urged to support the principal officers and assist them to lead the House to the Cannan of her hope.
We have confidence in God to grant wisdom, knowledge and understanding to the Speaker, for who He calls, He also equips!
