*RE:DEMAND FOR ACTION ON THE FORGERY CASE AGAINST THE MINISTER O F STATE, MINISTRY OF MINES AND STEEL DEVELOPMENT, MR UCHECHUKWU SAMPSON OGAH, IN THE INTEREST OF JUSTICE* .
: *CALL FOR THE IGP TO WADE IN, INVESTIGATE GROUP AND APPREHEND PROMOTERS OF THIS CAMPAIGN OF CALUMNY AGAINST AN HONOURABLE PUBLIC FIGURE.*
Our attention has been drawn to a letter on the above subject- matter written by a faceless group that goes by the name Coalition of Public Interest Lawyers and Advocates( COPA) and signed by one Pelumi Ojengbesi, of no known address, who claims to be a legal representative of the group, but who, from our preliminary investigations, is known to be equally as faceless as the group he claims to represent.

2. As champions and crusaders for good governance and promoters of accountability in public office, the National Executive Committee of NNGG, in our bid to support good governance where it is seen and to confront official sleaze and malfeasance where it is detected, two days ago Monday, February 24,2020, met in Abuja to review a case of fraud allegedly committed by the Hon. Minister of State,Ministry of Mines and Steel, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah when he held sway as President/ CEO of Masters Energy Group in 2011.

3.Following our investigations and review of the facts of the case in view and having gone through all the wild and spurious allegations contained in the so- called petition to the EFFC, it is our considered opinion and belief that all the allegations of forgery against the Hon. Minister of State, Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, are only related to a similar event, which took place in 2011 and was conclusively quashed by a court of competent jurisdiction in Lagos.

4. Following from the above, it is only natural to draw conclusions that the present resurgence of the case can only be the evil handiwork of an individual or group that is out to tarnish the name of a political rising star, who went into the turf of politics as an accomplished business man and technocrat.

5. In order to forestall the kind of frivolous allegations that are contained in the piece under review, which are usually politically masterminded to distract people in public office, politically exposed persons and people of high networth, the Hon. IGP is humbly prayed by this piece to do the following:

1. Cause an investigation into the whole issue in order to unearth those behind the present campaign of calumny against a sitting Minister, who had for over 8 years since the case ended walked the streets of our country free, participated in two Governorship elections in his home State of Abia, without anyone pointing a finger at him.

2. Establish the existence or otherwise of the name of the individual parading himself as the legal representative of the group, including the existence or otherwise of the group in question.

3. Wade fully into the matter under review to investigate the entire allegations levelled against the person of the Minister of State, Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.

CONCLUSION

I6. In the face of all the above, Sir, we request the Honourable IGP to avail us of his good offices to accord this matter all the expedited action it deserves, knowing full well that the name and integrity of a gentleman, whose track record in private enterprise remains unequalled and who has before him a vast field of possibilities in politics and private pursuits, are gravely at stake.

8.While thanking the Honourable IGP for your usual co- operation and anticipated kind action on the above, accept, Sir, the assurances of our high consideration and esteemed regards.

For ourselves and on behalf of our group.

Hon.( Sir) *Styv Patrick Nkem*
National Co- ordinator.

Hon. (Alh) *Shuaibu Komo Na’Allah*
National Secretary
