… Charges other people of goodwill to collaborate Amaechi’s social services to Rivers people
… Spanks Wike for being miserly, discriminatory to Rivers people
… Akawo’s Committee is designed to service Wike’s lackeys.
Former Rivers Governor and Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has continued to receive props for his display of magnanimity and noble generosity in palliating the effects of the Covid-19 lockdown on Rivers people.
It would be recalled that the Minister gifted over 12,000 bags of Rice to Rivers people through a Non-governmental Organisation, Green Nigeria Foundation Project that supervised the sharing and distribution of the donation in the best manner possible to strike down favoritism and discrimination on grounds of party affiliation which is the core inclination and leaning of the Desmond Akawo-led State Government Palliative Committee.
Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwueneka Eze, while commending the Minister for the kind gesture, said the intervention became expedient following the untold hardship occasioned by the total lockdown of the state and the attendant hunger striking and ravaging poor homes.
The party chieftain said the Minister’s intervention has really allayed the quantum of challenges faced by poor families abandoned to their fate by the state government in the midst of the pandemic and lockdown which has crushed sources of livelihood and offered invitation to hunger.
Results from the field indicates that Rt.Hon.Amaechi’s palliative which was concluded last Wednesday with the Bonny Local Government Area has helped a lot of families and even commanded wider circulation than the state government’s which has been caught in the web of discrimination and massive diversion and has been described by citizens as a mere scam.
Eze dabbed Gov. Wike over the discriminatory manner the much avowed but insignificant state government’s palliative is being distributed and counselled the Akawo-led Committee to take a clue from the transparent manner in which the Green Nigeria Foundation Project handled the sharing-out of the largesse from the Transportation Minister.
He decried that a cup of garri, few grains of Rice and a sachet or two of noodles from the state government are awfully insignificant and terribly poor for a Rivers family and is not commensurate with 2 billion Naira taxpayers’ money earmarked for the project.
Eze quoted most of the groups and individuals reached as extolling the good virtues of the party Leader for remembering them at this time of biting economic situation occasioned by the ravaging COVID-19 global pandemic.
Most of the beneficiaries said the food items would help sustain their families in this period of stay at home orders by Government occasioned by the global pandemic caused by the Coronavirus. They prayed for more blessing, good health and God’s favor upon the Leader and his friends.
Eze quoted the National President of the Green Nigeria Foundation Project, Warigbani Ezekiel who led the Team to all the 23 Local Government Areas of the State as saying, “that the food items were the gesture of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, his friends and Associates to encourage the people to continue to adhere to precautionary measures by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Federal Government to avoid the spread of the deadly virus.
Chief Eze appealed to people of goodwill, high-spirited individuals and Corporate Organisations to join the Minister to provide succour to the poor of society at this trying time, stressing that hunger is greater a pandemic that must be collectively checked during the pendency of the pandemic and lockdown.
Eze expressed happiness that Amaechi has by this great gesture once again demonstrated that his love and concern for his people in Rivers State is not only genuine but infectious and pray God to continue to bestow on the Minister his love and kindness.
Signed
