The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has been described as a party of falsehood.
This was stated today by a political group, Abia Democratic Initiative (ADI).
The statement which was signed by Comrade Michael Chijioke, was in reaction to an earlier one by an APC youth group, All Progressives Youth.
The statement reads:
“We have read the response by a certain All Progressives Youth purportedly writing in defence of a Lawmaker at the Abia State House of Assembly who had earlier been cautioned for his recurrent fallacious, fictitious and fraudulent claims against the Abia State Government under the guise of playing opposition politics.
“In fact, a cursory look at the statement by the AYF is in tandem with what the Abia Assembly had expressed reservations about because the AYF had said ‘democratic ethos can only be enriched when the opposition CONSTRUCTIVELY engages the ruling government to deliver good governance to the people’.
“That was exactly the point made by the Abia Assembly in their statement. So what’s the fuss about?
“No responsible institution anywhere in the world will allow any of its members to continue to use its position to play politics at the expense of good governance especially when APC leaders in the State have demonstrated their unmitigated love for deceiving the people with falsehood maliciously peddled to score cheap political points.
“Only few days ago, in the run up to the Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency bye-election, we all witnessed how APC leaders aggressively peddled falsehood claiming as theirs several of Governor Ikpeazu’s projects even when they had zero contribution to the projects all in a desperate bid to hoodwink the people for votes even though they eventually lost to the PDP by a landslide.
“It is also laughable of anyone associated with the APC to claim that the PDP has been rejected by the people when it was actually the APC that was roundly rejected by the people at the recent Aba polls, the only practical means of knowing who is accepted and those rejected.
“Rather than continue to ignore the giant strides already accomplished by Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, with many more ongoing, and rather than vainly vilifying the Abia State House of Assembly that has only recently received accolades even from the APC-led federal government for their lawmaking prowess, arguably the only State Assembly so singled out for commendation in our recent political history, we advise the APC and their associates, that falsehood as an instrument of politics can never win the hearts of a discerning people like Abians especially when leaders of APC in the State including Chijioke Chukwu have admitted to be actively involved in the establishment of the controversial RUGA to the State and have also gone ahead to boast about it. Those are not the kind of people that can successfuly sell lies to Abians.
“Lastly, rather than dissipate energy by dwelling on falsehood, Hon Chijioke Chukwu should tell his constituents what project he has been able to attract to them or even sponsor directly, no matter how small! It is quite shocking that since he was elected into the Assembly, Hon Chijioke Chukwu cannot point at one thing he has done for his people unlike other Members of the opposition in the Assembly, hence, his failed strategy to paper over his incompetence and ineptitude with a listless media campaign”.
