The Bees had a host of good opportunities in the first half, but failed to capitalise on their openings. Thomas Tuchel’s men took control of the contest after the restart, but had to wait until the 80th minute to break the deadlock.
Pontus Jansson diverted Reece James’ cross into his own net to hand Chelsea the lead. Alvaro Fernandez then brought down Christian Pulisic in the box and referee Andre Marriner pointed to the spot.
Jorginho booked the Blues’ place in the last four, successfully dispatching his effort into the bottom-left corner.
