Part 1

By Eze Chikamnayo.

I read with mixed feelings the very regrettable and vainglorious rambling contained in another long and unfortunate letter emanating from Chief Umeh Kalu, SAN, my former colleague.

The paradox in Umeh Kalu ‘s convoluted diatribe is in his vain attempt to burnish his exterior with glittering veneers and venerate himself while vilifying Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and others whom he gleefully mocked and despised in a most despicable display of disgusting duplicity .

The days between now and May 29, 2023 will definitely come and go but the hypocrisy, mendacity and utter wickedness of Umeh Kalu and his cohorts who were once beneficiaries of Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu’s benevolent spirit will remain to hunt them and their generations unborn.

In a frenzied display of extreme absurdity, Umeh Kalu himself, a creation and prime beneficiary of the very system he now ceaselessly lampoons choose amnesia over circumspection and in so doing instigate for himself a vicious cycle that may soon consume him if he doesn’t take his time. The recriminations and bitterness that dominated every paragraph of his misguided missive stems from his childish feeling of entitlement as far as the Abia Project is concerned.

After serving as Attorney General for an unbroken period of ten good years in two PDP administrations, Umeh Kalu is now ironically lecturing Abians on how to clean up dirts and obliterate records. His major regrets being that Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu may not have obliged some of his outlandish desires borne out of an overbloated feeling of supeririority complex.

His needless and useless sermons on dwindling fortunes and free cash tells the story of an uncanny conman whose understanding of life is bereft of reality. In totality, Umeh Kalu has learnt nothing from 2015 till date otherwise he would have known better than to pass self indicting judgements on an administration in which he was once a key player and innermost ally.

For admitting that his spurious allegations of mass employment , massive land grabbing and award of contracts were all based on rumours and hearsay, Umeh Kalu has wilfully denigrated the integrity of his legal standing.

Only few months ago , in one of those his meddlesome rantings, this same Umeh Kalu was lamenting about the inability of successive administrations to complete the new Abia Government House, And today, this confused man is now suddenly struggling to paint Dr Okezie Ikpeazu black for delivering the same milestone Project before the end of his tenure.

It may be necessary to remind Umeh Kalu that he cannot determine when a sitting Government should commence or finish a project. The question is : Are these projects including the New Government House important? The answer is a resounding , YES ! – and Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, the Rebuilder of Abia State, will forever take the deserving accolades for this and many other Legacy Projects to the shame of rabid haters and naysayers like Umeh Kalu.

Of all perfidious comments issuing out of Umeh ‘s murky mind is his attempt at condemning the conduct of Local Government Elections by a Democratically elected Government in line with the unambiguous requirements of our Constitution and the Law.

It is on record that for the ten odd years years Umeh Kalu held sway as the Chief Law Officer of our State, he neither saw nothing wrong nor said nothing against the “Caretaker Transition Committees” he now suddenly and dubiously woke up to refer to as wasteful contraptions .

Interestingly, contradictory Umeh Kalu even conceded that it was TC Chairmen that were prevalent throughout the two (2) previous administrations he served before Ikpeazu’s own. The pretense of trying to condemn the lawful conduct of Local Government elections
LG elections by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria is to say the least, outrightly mischievous, devious and professionally embarrassing.

Governor Okezie Victor ikpeazu deserves praise for obeying the Law and conducting Local Government elections three times (3) during his tenure. This rare Democratic Record has helped to deepen our Democracy, promote Rural Development and facilitate the emergence of Leaders from the grassroots. He has committed no is crime !

If not for ulterior motives and self serving political calculations, why would supposed Democrats like Umeh Kalu and cohorts who came through the ballot move to stop elections.! Now it’s clear and we know those behind the curious Court Orders flying around. Thus, as Fela once sang, “Animals can’t dash us Human Rights ”

What should be of priority to Umeh Kalu and the incoming Government at this moment is to formulate clear roadmaps of alternative ideas and not this infantile obsession with the legitimate activities of a subsisting Administration.

Moreover, since all these attacks and sanctimonious sermons are designed to curry favor in order to land appointments, Mr Alex Otti should be wise enough to realize that anyone who needs to sacrifice his former boss in order to earn a job will also sacrifice the incumbent at theslightestopportunity.! It’s only a matter of time because the devilish, deceptive DNA in Umeh Kalu does not change even when the color of the flag does.. For him and his type, it’s self only that matters

I will not end this piece without warning Chief Umeh Kalu and cohorts to beware of what they wish. Let them not start a fire that will consume them because we are not strangers in this State.

Those desecrating and misusing the Judiciary to set meaningless bobby traps and prosecute personal political interests should retrace their steps and respect the Law .

Now that the likes of Umeh Kalu and some other former PDP bigwigs have foolishly demolished their base and defected to Labour Party to assume the role of godfathers, we only hope that their unending, insatiable demands will be met by their new godson.
