Greetings beloved brother I crave to be anonymous,I’m writing so that you can lend your voice to amplify ours.

I’m writing from the community of the disabled person’s in Abia state.

Abia state Disability Law was passed in the last administration which birthed ABIA STATE DISABILITY COMMISSION with it’s board constituted and inaugurated to pilot the affairs of the disable community in the state from the angle of the government.

However, the commission as an agency of the government with the mandate to cater for the pwds, needs to be Carried along simultaneously with other agencies of the government, for instance, the commissioners and SA’s of the governor are provided with operational vehicles, fully equipped office space and and an operational budget and other entitlements.

I can vividly recall, the governor during his campaigns and inauguration speech promised to prioritize issues of the pwds to ensure their lives is given a face lift in the state but till this moment little or nothing has been done thereby making the commission to be frustrated in carrying out their responsibilities.

We plead that the government should as a matter of urgency restore the monthly subvention to Joint National Association Of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) Abia state Chapter and her seven clusters and also provide them with a fully equipped office space for effective and efficient delivery of their duties to its members as obtained in our sister states

Mobility:Aside Abia I don’t think that there’s any state that doesn’t have at least a bus. Most times when attending our zonal and National programs Abia state jonapwd is known for begging to be accommodated in the vehicle of other states provided by their various state government.

It’s no longer a news that the state has acknowledged receiving 2bn out of the 5bn and loads of rice and other edibles to cushion the effect of subsidy removal we demand for 10% as captured in the law to be respected as we are the most affected in this excruciating economic reality.

All we ask for is equal right and opportunity for instance no pwd was appointed into the governor’s cabinet nor SA or SSA,we are not treated as “SPECIAL PEOPLE” like we are called, no disabled person wished to be deformed neither is there any disable who is the architect of his deformity.
We don’t wish to go on the streets to show our displeasure as we believe the governor will urgently look into our matter to address these challenges..

We remain committed to the peace an progress of our dear state.

Long live Abia state
Long live Abia Disability commission
Long live Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities.

From my INBOX.
