As the squad prepares to play Angola in the quarterfinal of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, or AFCON, in Ivory Coast, the Super Eagles have promised Nigerian fans that goals will come in bucketloads.

Prior to the match against Angola on Friday morning, Babafemi Raji, the team’s media officer, provided the promise in an interview that aired on Channels Television.

Remember that throughout the tournament thus far, Jose Peseiro’s team has only managed five goals.

They took on Equatorial Guinea 1-1, Ivory Coast and Guinea Bissau 1-0, and Cameroon 2-0.

Raji commented, “Peseiro likes to play attacking football,” in reference to both Peseiro’s strategy for the match against Angola and the Super Eagles’ goal total thus far in the competition.

“He likes to keep possession of the ball. He likes to play the ball around.

“The goals will come in torrents. What Peseiro likes is beautiful football and attacking football.”
