In an effort to stop the naira’s devaluation, President Bola Tinubu has received encouragement from Isaac Fayose, the brother of former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose, to seize any individual domestic accounts valued at more over $1,000.

On Friday, February 2, he made this statement in a widely shared viral video on social media.

“The President should come to the television addressing Nigerians and order that any private domiciliary account that has more than $1,000 will be seized or auctioned and replaced with naira.

“All individuals including myself, my brother and all the former Governors that have dollars stored, auction their dollars and change it to naira.

“Don’t store dollars here. If you want to save dollars go to America. If you want to save pounds, go to London. If you want to save Euros , go to Europe,” he said.

The remarks made by Mr. Fayose follow the Naira’s sharp decline against the US currency.
