The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has come under fire from Uche Secondus, the former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), amid the continuing political cold war in Rivers State.

According to reports, on Tuesday during a press conference in Abuja, Wike called Sen. George Sekibo, Secondus, and other PDP leaders in Rivers State “expired politicians and buccaneers” for their backing of Fubara, with whom he was embroiled in a political dispute.

In response, Secondus said in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja through his media assistant, Ike Abonyi, that Wike’s performance at the media engagement was an example of “his well-known trait of being economical with the truth, harbinger of half-truths and a mastermind of outright falsehoods just to hoodwink unsuspecting members of the public to believe his brew by playing to the gallery and drawing some unwarranted applause and attention.”

Secondus went on to characterize his erstwhile political ally Wike as, “a showman noted for his double-speak, twisting of facts to score some cheap political points, and someone who stands the truth on its head.”

Additionally, he described Wike’s statements made during the Abuja parley as “appalling and rather unfortunate, more so (when) he characterized our revered political leaders of Rivers State, casting them in bad light by referring to them as transactional politicians, political vampires, and political buccaneers.”
