Alleged Fraud: Give yourself up for arrest and defend yourself – PDP Chieftain, Onuesoke tells Yahaya Bello

Former Delta State governor candidate and prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has requested that troubled former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello turn himself in for a probe by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

The appeal from Onuesoke is a response to the former Kogi State governor’s arrest.

At the Asaba International Airport, Onuesoke addressed reporters and encouraged them to follow in the footsteps of notable Nigerians such as Ayo Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, and others who have accepted invitations from the EFCC.

“Why is he running? He should submit himself for investigation if his cupboard is so clean. The attempt to delay is not the best in this situation. He should have copied people like former Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose who honoured the EFCC invitation as soon as he left the government. It is a very simple thing. You have been invited by EFCC, you should go and explain yourself. He is not above the law. He is like any other Nigerian,” he stated.

He recommended that police officers from Bello’s private residence be removed right away and prosecuted with obstruction of justice in court. He also denounced the actions of the police officers who stopped the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission from apprehending the suspect.

Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission agents were supposed to have arrested embattled former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello for alleged corruption at his Abuja home, but they were stopped by Nigerian Police Force officers and a few armed men wearing black clothing with the inscription “Special Forces.”
