Starting on May 1, 2024, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki will raise the minimum pay for employees in the state civil service to N70,000.

Obaseki reportedly revealed this on Monday during the Labor House’s commissioning ceremony. The Labour House was constructed specifically for the state’s organized labor.

Adams Oshiomhole, a former state governor, is honored by the name of the mansion.

Obaseki declared that his government would raise the minimum salary for workers in the state from N40,000 to N70,000.

Additionally, he pledged to raise workers’ monthly pay to more than N70,000 in the event that the federal government approved a new minimum wage for its workforce.

He stated that the public would be informed about the specifics of the new minimum wage on Wednesday, May 1, at the celebration of Workers Day.
