Tony Okocha has been accused by the Emeka Beke-led group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to expel Rotimi Amaechi, the former minister of transportation, from the party.

The Beke camp claimed that Okocha’s recent attacks on Amaechi were motivated by his goals.

Okocha said on Monday that Amaechi was a failed politician who, while serving as Minister, was unable to bring any projects to Rivers State.

Darlington Nwauju, the faction’s spokesperson, asked APC stakeholders to question Okocha’s choice to damage other people’s reputations in order to become more politically relevant.

Nwauju said in a statement he released: “Why has former Governor Amaechi’s name become the only currency that Tony Okocha and his group can use for their political trade by batter?

“The only reason why Tony Okocha is doing everything possible to construct a gulf in the APC family is to vex the original stakeholders of the party in the state like Amaechi and force him out of a political party he laboured to build in Rivers State.”
