Minister of Works, David Umahi, has openly reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that after God, the President remains the only authority to whom he answers.
Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki on Monday, Umahi expressed deep gratitude for President Tinubu’s recent commendation of his work in infrastructure development, describing it as a monumental validation of his efforts.
“I have told the President even publicly that my loyalty is to God first and then, him,” Umahi stated. “When someone places the kind of trust in you that Tinubu has placed in me, it would be completely wrong and even devilish to betray that trust.”
The Minister emphasized that the President’s endorsement was worth more than one trillion dollars to him, noting that such recognition affirms that he is on the right path and that his prayers are being answered.
He further asserted that betraying the confidence reposed in him by the President would attract divine consequences.
“Have you seen where a man presided over the procurement of a project worth N1.6 trillion and his boss did not call him to ask how he went about it? I am talking about one section of the project depending on the length,” Umahi said.
“I pray every day that if I ever put myself, my family, or friends above God, Tinubu, and the Nigerian people, may God not answer my prayers.”
Reiterating his commitment to the administration’s goals, Umahi pledged to continue offering prayers for the success of President Tinubu and all those who support and recognize the administration’s efforts.
“This means that contractors will be under pressure to complete around 30 major projects, which the President is set to inaugurate by December 20,” he said.
He also disclosed that he remains actively involved in the ongoing construction and inspection of infrastructure projects across all six geopolitical zones of the country, affirming his dedication to national development.
