Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that he has never fully trusted referees and match officials since arriving in English football.
The Spanish tactician also described the Video Assistant Referee, VAR, system as “a flip of a coin” while speaking ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
City are expected to secure victory against Crystal Palace to maintain pressure on Arsenal in the ongoing Premier League title race.
Guardiola, however, warned his players against blaming referees if they fail to achieve their objectives this season.
“We lost the two finals of the FA Cup because the referees didn’t do their jobs they should do, even the VAR,” Guardiola said.
“When this happens it is because we have to do better, not (blame) the referees or VAR. I never trust anything since I arrived a long time ago.”
