Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is “dead on arrival.”

Wike claimed that Makinde’s reported move to align with the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, in pursuit of his 2027 presidential ambition would not succeed.

His remarks followed Makinde’s declaration of interest in contesting for the presidency on the platform of the APM during an event held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday.

The development reportedly came after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, between Makinde’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the APM.

Reacting while speaking with journalists during an inspection of ongoing road projects in Gomani Yangoje, Kwali Area Council of Abuja, Wike dismissed suggestions of a broader alliance between the PDP and APM.

According to him, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed had never spoken about any PDP APM coalition, insisting that such claims were politically motivated.

“What you have is Seyi Makinde joining APM to be able to actualize his presidential ambition, which is already dead on arrival.

“It’s unfortunate. We know that has been his game plan and we would say he cannot fly the flag of PDP,” Wike said.

The FCT minister also reacted to comments credited to Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, regarding his continued membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Wike questioned why some people were expressing concern over Fubara’s political situation when the governor himself had not complained.

“Sorry for what? Why are you saying problem when nobody has told you he has a problem?” he asked.

“The man has told you he still remains APC. So what is the problem now?”
