A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has entered into a political alliance with the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The two opposition parties formalised their collaboration on Thursday through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Seyi Bamidele signed the agreement on behalf of the PDP faction, while Oladele Oyadeji signed for the APM.
Governor Makinde and the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, also appended their signatures to the agreement on behalf of both parties.
The development coincided with Makinde’s declaration of interest in contesting the 2027 presidential election.
Political analysts believe the move positions the Oyo State governor among the prominent early contenders expected to shape political calculations ahead of the next presidential race.
