Sole governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, has commended fellow aspirants who withdrew from the party’s governorship race, describing their actions as a strong demonstration of unity and commitment to the success of the party.

Chinda made the remarks on Thursday during the APC governorship primary conducted in his community, Ward 4 in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

He described the ongoing primary exercise as a transparent and democratic process designed to produce a leader capable of protecting and advancing the interests of Rivers people.

The APC governorship hopeful also expressed appreciation to party leaders for considering him worthy to emerge as the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 governorship election.

Chinda assured party members and residents of the state that if elected governor, he would govern with the fear of God, uphold the rule of law and ensure accountability in leadership.

The former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives expressed optimism that Rivers State would once again experience peace, stability and progress.

He also praised party supporters and members for maintaining peace and order throughout the primary process.

Chinda arrived at his polling unit around 12:23 p.m. to a large gathering of supporters and party faithful.

The venue witnessed a carnival like atmosphere, with live music bands and traditional cultural groups entertaining attendees, while members of the Northern community were also present in significant numbers.

He was accompanied by Martin Amaewhule, now the APC candidate for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, alongside other APC stakeholders and party members from Abuja.

Security presence was also visibly heightened around the ward during the exercise.

More details to follow.
