Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted to his side’s 2-1 international friendly victory over Nigeria, declaring that preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been completed.
Ronaldo was in action as Portugal secured the win against the Super Eagles at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria on Wednesday.
Pedro Neto opened the scoring for the hosts in the 23rd minute before Nigeria responded through Akor Adams, who found the equaliser before halftime for Eric Chelle’s side.
Portugal regained the advantage in the second half when Francisco Conceição scored the decisive goal to seal victory for the European side.
Following the match, Ronaldo took to Instagram to reflect on the result and signal Portugal’s readiness for the World Cup.
“The preparation is done. Eyes on the World Cup,” Ronaldo posted alongside a photograph of himself during the match against Nigeria.
Portugal will now turn their attention to the World Cup, where they have been drawn in Group K alongside DR Congo, Colombia and Uzbekistan.
The friendly served as one of Portugal’s final preparations ahead of the tournament as the team seeks another strong showing on football’s biggest stage.
