The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC, has confirmed that five Iranian vessels, including three oil tankers and two ships carrying essential goods, have successfully crossed through the United States naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC disclosed this on Tuesday, stating that the lifting of the blockade has now become operational.
The development comes just hours after the United States military stated in an advisory notice that the blockade of Iranian ports remained in effect pending the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Iran, scheduled for June 19.
The United States had imposed a naval blockade on the Strait of Hormuz in April, restricting vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports from passing through the strategic waterway.
Iran, the United States, and Pakistan announced early Monday that negotiations had resulted in the finalization of a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict after weeks of diplomatic engagement.
The agreement is expected to be formally signed on Friday in Switzerland.
Following the announcement, Donald Trump ordered the lifting of the anti Iran naval blockade, paving the way for renewed maritime movement through one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes.
