Bandits have killed the Chief Imam of Talluje village in Sokoto State’s Bodinga Local Government Area, alongside two other residents, in a fresh deadly attack on communities in the state.
The assault, which reportedly lasted for nearly two hours, targeted two communities in the Danchadi District of Bodinga LGA.
The latest incident has raised fresh concerns over insecurity in the area, bringing the number of chief imams killed in the district to three within the past few weeks.
According to reports, the attackers launched coordinated assaults on both communities at the same time, firing indiscriminately before fleeing with an unspecified number of rustled livestock.
A community leader in Danchadi said, “The attacks started around 4:00 p.m. and continued until about 6:00 p.m. The bandits killed the Chief Imam of Talluje and two other persons whose identities have yet to be confirmed.”
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force in Sokoto, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, said he had not yet received a formal briefing on the incident.
