Two prominent allies of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Mr Darlington Orji and former Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Collins Onunwo, have reportedly joined the Rainbow Coalition in the state.

The Rainbow Coalition is a bipartisan political alliance led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, with the objective of supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re election bid in 2027.

The latest development comes after Governor Fubara announced his withdrawal from the governorship race ahead of the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election.

His decision paved the way for the emergence of House of Representatives member, Kingsley Chinda, as the APC governorship candidate.

The move reportedly unsettled some of the governor’s political allies, many of whom claimed they had remained loyal to him throughout the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State.

Darlington Orji confirmed his decision in a post on his Facebook page, where he shared photographs of himself with members of the Rainbow Coalition.

He wrote, “returned home to my family”.
