The Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency, REA, Abba Aliyu, has welcomed the appointment of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose as Chairman of the agency’s Governing Board.
President Bola Tinubu also appointed Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members of the REA Governing Board.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Aliyu described the appointments as a positive step for the agency, saying the new board members were well suited for their responsibilities.
According to him, the appointments are “round pegs in round holes.”
He expressed confidence that the experience and expertise of the newly appointed board members would strengthen the agency’s efforts to expand electricity access to rural and underserved communities through solar mini grid projects.
“Our visionary leader, President Tinubu, is intentional about ensuring that every Nigerian has access to reliable electricity. With these new appointments, the President has further demonstrated his keen commitment to our success,” Aliyu stated.
