Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara has jokingly described Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as his “biggest enemy,” while revealing the close friendship the pair have built ahead of the 2026/2027 season.

Osimhen has established himself as one of Galatasaray’s most influential players since arriving from Napoli, initially on loan before completing a permanent move last summer.

The Nigerian international has scored 59 goals and provided 16 assists in 74 appearances across all competitions, playing a key role in the club’s back to back Turkish Super Lig triumphs and a domestic cup success.

Despite Osimhen’s importance to the team, Sara said their relationship is built on friendly rivalry, constant banter and mutual respect.

Speaking with Le Marca Sports, the Brazilian midfielder explained that his comment was made in jest.

“Osimhen is my biggest enemy. We are merely joking. The level of competition and friendship between us is quite high. I get annoyed with him, but he is a very good friend of mine,” Sara said.

Osimhen featured in Galatasaray’s preseason defeat to Venezia on Monday and is still searching for his first goal of the summer.

The 27 year old will hope to open his preseason account when Galatasaray face Villarreal in their next friendly as preparations continue for the new campaign.

Having enjoyed two outstanding seasons at Rams Park, Osimhen will be aiming to return to peak fitness and maintain the form that has made him one of the club’s most decisive players.
