Peter Ameh has resigned as the Director General of the OK Movement, barely one month after his appointment.

Ameh announced his resignation in Abuja, stating that the decision took immediate effect.

He explained that he stepped down to focus fully on his ambition to represent Kogi East Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.

In his resignation letter, Ameh said:

“I hereby formally tender my resignation as Director General of the OK Movement, effective immediately.

“This decision will enable me to devote the necessary time and energy to my campaign for the Kogi East Senatorial District, where I am the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.”

Ameh also reaffirmed his loyalty to the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing him as his leader.

His resignation comes less than a month after he was appointed to lead the OK Movement, a support group associated with Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development signals Ameh’s decision to shift his attention from the leadership of the support movement to his senatorial campaign as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of 2027.

Ameh’s resignation reflects a direct shift from movement leadership to electoral campaigning, with his senatorial bid likely to shape the OK Movement’s leadership and strategy ahead of 2027.
