The University of Toronto emerged as the highest ranked institution in Canada, placing 12th globally.
The latest ranking places UI, UNILAG and UNN as Nigeria’s top three universities, although the country’s highest ranked institution remained outside the global top 1,000 in the July 2026 edition.
The ranking measures digital visibility and research impact rather than teaching quality alone, making the gap between Webometrics performance and other university-ranking criteria important when interpreting Nigeria’s results.
