The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, has described the Hausa people as important contributors to Nigeria’s progress and development.
Obi stated this in a message shared on his verified X account to commemorate International Hausa Day.
The former Anambra State governor praised the Hausa community for its contributions to Nigeria through culture, traditions, agriculture, enterprise, scholarship, public service and community development.
Obi said Nigeria’s diversity remains one of the country’s greatest strengths, stressing the need to recognise and respect the contributions of every ethnic community.
He said, “I warmly congratulate the Hausa community across Nigeria as they observe their Day in Daura, Katsina State. The Hausa people are the pillars of Nigeria’s progress.
“This celebration is not only a moment to honour a proud heritage but also an opportunity to reaffirm the bonds that unite us as Nigerians.”
Obi wished members of the Hausa community peace, prosperity and renewed hope as they celebrate the occasion in Katsina State.
He also called for a united Nigeria where citizens, regardless of their ethnic or social background, have equal opportunities to prosper.
He added, “May this occasion bolster our unity and inspire us to build a Nigeria where every citizen, regardless of ethnicity or background, has equal opportunities to flourish.”
