The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, has expressed confidence that the party can defeat the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 general election if the exercise is free and fair.
Abdullahi stated this during an interview with Symfoni TV while responding to questions on the ADC’s chances against the ruling party.
He said the opposition party had no doubt about its ability to win a credible election but raised concerns over possible electoral manipulation.
“In a free and fair election, we have no doubt in our minds that we will win this election. The challenge is, will there be a free and fair election?”
The ADC spokesman said the party was prepared for any situation that could arise during the election.
“We are ready for that. We are ready for anything. We are dealing with these APC people; you have to be ready for anything because we know that they will want to steal the election.”
Abdullahi said the ADC would put measures in place to protect its votes and monitor the electoral process.
“We will police our votes. We know the things that we will do. We won’t tell you, but we are ready for them because we know that if you dine with the devil, you have to have a long spoon,” he said.
His comments come as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general election, with concerns over the credibility and transparency of the electoral process remaining a major issue among opposition parties.
