Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has said the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is interested in preserving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the future.

Fayose made the statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday.

He said Wike has not committed himself to supporting any political figure beyond the 2027 presidential election.

“Wike has not put it out there that he is supporting people beyond the Presidency because he still wants to keep the PDP,” Fayose said.

Fayose noted that Wike had been open about his political position, adding that he had also made his own stance clear.

“Wike has not hidden his position; neither have I hidden my position, neither have the governors too to support the President,” he stated.

The former governor also said those familiar with Wike’s political style would understand that he usually makes his intentions known ahead of time.

“Nobody in Nigeria will tell me that he doesn’t know Wike. You don’t know his style, you don’t know what he will do. In fact he will say what he will do before time,” Fayose said.

He added that political discussions should currently focus on the 2027 presidential election, noting that there was still time before the governorship elections.

“Let us talk about the presidential election, there is still time for the governorship election,” he added.
