On Monday one of the counsels of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, self-acclaimed leader of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Aloy Ejimako, has said that the Department of State Services, DSS has stopped his client from signing a consular assistance form by the United Kingdom.
Barrister Aloy Ejimako made this known in a statement.
Ejimakor disclosed that operatives of DSS are delaying Kanu from signing two forms seeking consular and diplomatic intervention from the UK.
The constitutional lawyer disclosed this in a statement he forwarded to newsmen entitled: “Summary of my visitation with our Client, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on Monday 19th July.”
He noted that the refusal of the secret police to sign the letters he took to them was an indication that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government was determined to isolate Kanu from gaining diplomatic assistance.
According to Ejimakor, DSS legal department was responsible for the restriction.
Recall that following the rearrest and repatriation of the Biafra freedom fighter back to the country recently, the British High Commission had offered to extended consular assistance to the fugitive.
Kanu who is a dual citizen of both British and Nigeria is currently been detained in the custody of the Nigerian secret police.
He has been scheduled to resume his trial on July 26 after jumping bail in 2017.
