On Friday the Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has explained why the club took the decision to sell Folarin Balogun this summer.
Recall that Balogun, this week, completed a €40 million move to Monaco.
The American striker returns to Ligue 1, where he spent last season on loan with Reims.
Arteta, speaking to the media, admitted there was no space for Balogun in his squad.
“We did not have space for him in the squad to give him the minutes that he needed.
“He wanted the chance to continue developing his career. Really happy for him.”
Balogun was also the subject of interest from Arsenal’s Premier League rivals, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
