Russia has been under fire from the United Kingdom for re-electing President Vladimir Putin.

The election that returned Putin to power, according to British Foreign Minister David Cameron, was not held in a way that was deemed free and fair.

On Sunday, he made this comment.

He implied that the Russian President had easily gained reelection.

“The polls have closed in Russia, following the illegal holding of elections on Ukrainian territory, a lack of choice for voters and no independent OSCE monitoring.

“This is not what free and fair elections look like,” he said.
