The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for internal candidates.

Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, announced that 1,367,210 candidates registered for the examination, comprising 685,514 males and 681,696 females. Of this number, 1,358,339 sat for the exams.

According to him, 818,492 candidates, representing 60.26 percent, obtained five credits and above including Mathematics and English Language. A total of 1,144,496 candidates, or 84.26 percent, secured five credits and above irrespective of Mathematics and English.

Wushishi disclosed that results from eight schools in Lamorde Local Government Area of Adamawa State were withheld due to a communal clash that disrupted the examinations between July 7 and 25, 2025. The incident affected 13 subjects and 29 papers. Discussions are ongoing with relevant authorities to reschedule the examinations for students in the affected schools.

The Registrar also revealed that 38 schools across 13 states were implicated in cases of mass cheating. He said the schools would be invited to the council’s headquarters before sanctions are applied.

In addition, nine supervisors were recommended for blacklisting over offences including poor supervision, aiding malpractice, lateness, unruly conduct, assault, and insubordination. The supervisors comprise three from Rivers State, three from the Federal Capital Territory, and one each from Niger, Kano, and Osun States.
