The Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi, has stressed that the dispute between Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) must be resolved in the interest of Nigerians, workers, employers, and the economy.
Dingyadi made the remarks on Monday while chairing a meeting between Dangote Refinery, PENGASSAN, and other stakeholders in the oil and gas sector.
“We want to resolve these issues amicably, for the good of everybody, for the good of our economy, for the good of the security of our nation, and for the good of our workers, and for the good of our employers as well,” he said.
The meeting, scheduled for 2:30 pm, began around 4 pm. At press time, it was unclear whether discussions had concluded.
Meanwhile, Dangote Refinery has reportedly secured an interim court order restraining PENGASSAN from disrupting its operations.
The session followed PENGASSAN’s weekend directive to cut gas and crude supply to the 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery until the company reinstates workers allegedly dismissed for joining the union.
Dangote Refinery described the union’s action as “bully and terror tactics.”
