Rangers International FC have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, after securing a 2-1 victory over Ikorodu City FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Sunday.
The triumph marks Rangers’ ninth NPFL title, further strengthening their status as one of Nigeria’s most successful football clubs.
Managed by Fidelis Ilechukwu, Rangers began the encounter strongly and took the lead through Chidiebere Nwobodo in the 30th minute.
Nwobodo completed his brace 10 minutes into the second half to give the visitors a comfortable advantage.
Ikorodu City, who also needed victory to improve their chances of securing continental football qualification, reduced the deficit through Moses Ali shortly before the hour mark.
Meanwhile, Rivers United FC finished the season in second place following a convincing 3-0 home victory against Katsina United FC at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Chijioke Mbaoma scored twice for Rivers United, while Aniekeme Okon added the third goal.
