Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate Peter Obi is facing a fresh petition alleging repeated violations of aviation security procedures through the use of fake identities by one of his travel companions.

The petition, dated July 12, 2026, was addressed to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, with copies sent to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Written by an individual who identified himself as a concerned employee in Nigeria’s aviation industry, the petition called for an urgent investigation into what it described as repeated breaches of aviation security, regulatory compliance and passenger safety involving Obi and a female passenger identified as one of his media aides.

According to the petitioner, the woman had previously been banned by Air Peace over alleged repeated misconduct and confrontations at airports but continued to travel on the airline under different names.

The petition further alleged that Obi facilitated the arrangement, enabling the passenger to bypass the airline’s restrictions by using multiple identities.

It claimed that such actions undermined aviation security, compromised passenger identification procedures and interfered with the airline’s ability to enforce lawful safety measures.

The petitioner also alleged that airport personnel were repeatedly prevented from conducting proper identity checks whenever Obi travelled with the passenger.

“Despite this restriction, Peter Obi made arrangements repeatedly for this media thug to continue travelling under a different name in order to circumvent the airline’s decision.

“Every time we stop her, he prevents us from checking her identity, even after she is reported by our staff on ground. Evidence of these flight tickets have also been attached as he is even on some of the Passenger Name Record, PNR,” the petition stated.

The allegations remain claims contained in the petition, and there is no indication in the report that the relevant authorities have reached any findings on the matter.
