Presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala has alleged that the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, replaced some of his former associates with social media content creators ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bwala made the claim in a post on X on Thursday while commenting on developments surrounding Obi and his political movement.
According to him, individuals including Kenneth Okonkwo, Balami and Valentine Ozigbo, whom he described as “marginally reasonable,” had left Obi.
He alleged that their departure was followed by the emergence of social media content creators around the former Anambra State governor.
Bwala further claimed that Obi now appeared uncomfortable with the conduct of some of those associated with him.
He wrote, “When marginally reasonable people like Ken Okonkwo, Balami, valentine Ozigbo etc left him, he replaced them with social media content creators and surrounded himself with them. Now he seems to be embarrassed by their shenanigans,”
The statement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with Obi and other opposition figures mobilising support for their respective political platforms.
Bwala’s allegation frames the departures of Okonkwo, Balami and Ozigbo as a change in Obi’s inner circle, with the claimed replacement by content creators presented as the reason for the alleged embarrassment over their conduct.
