Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has expressed delight after reaching 100 international appearances for Nigeria, admitting he never imagined achieving the milestone.
The Paris FC forward made his 100th appearance on Friday night as Nigeria defeated Madagascar 2-1 in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying encounter.
Simon entered the match in the 61st minute, replacing Akor Adams, to reach the landmark under head coach Eric Chelle.
Following the victory, the 31-year-old was honoured with a special commemorative frame featuring a Super Eagles jersey bearing his name and the number 100.
Speaking during the postmatch press conference, Simon expressed appreciation to the coaches, journalists and everyone who had contributed to his international career.
“First of all, I would like to say thanks to the coach for the opportunity, thanks to every coach that gave me this opportunity, and also thanks to you all, the journalists,” Simon said.
“Of course, this gives me joy and it’s a great privilege to play for the Super Eagles. It’s a dream come true. I never believed I would get there, and I never believed I would play 100 games.”
The milestone added to Nigeria’s celebrations following their victory over Madagascar in the AFCON qualifying campaign.
