The Peoples Democratic Party, Rivers State Chapter, has faulted claims by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress and its governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Dakuku Peterside, that its (APC) members are being attacked and killed by the PDP.

The PDP described the allegation by the APC as a move to blackmail its law-abiding members, adding that the APC should look inward for the death of its members.

State Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Felix Obuah, said in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday that the lack of internal democracy within the APC was responsible for the infighting that had caused the death of some of the party’s (APC) members.

Obuah challenged the APC to provide evidence to back its claims, adding that the PDP would never play into the hands of the ruling party in the state.

“The PDP views such allegations by APC National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed and Mr. Dakuku Peterside, of the killing of APC members in Rivers State as flawed, unfounded and outright blackmail.

“It should not surprise the public of the complicity of APC leaders in any death of its members, as it has failed to resolve many of its internal crises sparked by the absence of internal democracy.

“We are aware of the antics of the APC and will never play into their hands. Their intention is to do something to obstruct the elections and blame it on either the inefficiency or compromise of the INEC and the PDP.

“But we urge all Nigerians, particularly the security agencies, to be alert to resist and quell all such moves by the APC,” Obuah added.
