I belong to the school of thought which holds that a prophet ought to be recognised in his own house. To me, the days of prophets being without honour amongst their kinsmen is gone for good. Right now, we must begin to search for men and women of great repute, and celebrate them while they still dwell in our midst. I also believe that we must protect our great ones from egoistic and morally bankrupt individuals, who are always ready to plunge down anyone who questions their hellish demeanour.

Now you can imagine the intensity of joy that I felt this morning when I learnt that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be hosting leaders, members, and friends, in honour of the Director General of Buhari Campaign Organisation and the former Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, for his courage, compassion, and commitment towards the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as the President of Nigeria. In other words, the party simply wants to say ‘thank you’ to Amaechi today.

It is not everyday that you hear or see something like this on the news. I am not sure that I have ever heard a story where a political party earmarked a whole day for the celebration of a man because of his philosophical contribution to its success at the polls. This reminds me of the words of Samuel Beckett when he said that “Let us do something, while we have the chance!..” Amaechi took the chance and set sail on the rough sea that many dared not in Nigeria, and he became the first DG of a Presidential Campaign Organisation to oust an incumbent president from power .

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s name will continue to echo throughout history as a force that modified political and social comprehension in Nigeria.
