The Caretaker Commitee Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area in Rivers State Mr.Ikechukwu Obuzor has acquired not fewer than 200 dangerous weapons including matches in preparation for an imminent re-run Poll,PUO REPORTS Learnt.
The Chairman Through its Senior Special Assistant On Media Mr Madu Dab Madueke has however refuted the insinuation that the equipment’s procured by the Council was meant for witch-hunting political opponents,According to a statement released on his FACEBOOK PAGE
“The machetes are one of the equipments procured for the first set of (66) sanitation Marshalls of Awelga, which were selected across the 66 communities of Ahoada West LGA and the procurement was not done for social and election ulterior motive as alleged in some quarters.
The Marshalls while resuming work on the 10th of August 15,the few days after their inauguration, received the sanitation equipments procured by the CTC CHAIRMAN ranging from cutlasses (70) spades (70) , wastes vests (72), rain boats (70), reflective Jackets (vests 35), wheel Barrow (20), hand gloves (70), mouth masks (70), Etc.
Furthermore, two trucks were also procured for the purpose of evacuating the waste and dirt in course of their sanitation exercises in Ahoada west LGA of Rivers State of which every well meaning Ahoada West indigene, should be grateful to God for given us, Hon IKECHUKWU NKOS OBUZOR at this time of restoring the lost glory of Ahoada West. And Rivers State at large”.He stated
Question being asked by some residents in the area is What informed the decision of buying machetes?
Who are the beneficiaries? How are they going to be shared? Why machetes?
The Caretaker committee Chairman Mr.Obuzor is among the 21 others who were sworn in by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State,he is also an inlaw to the Rivers State Governor
