Tension in Umuahia INEC Office as IG reopens Card Reader Theft Case, Suspects Transferred to Abuja

On May 7, 2015, more than Six staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abia were arrested for allegedly attempting to remove some sensitive election materials from the office.

AFN reported exclusively on this story, the staff fingered and arrested includes   the Head of Department, Information Communication and Technology, Mr Herbert Ejiofor and Mr Nnamdi Nwabuko, Amauche Dike, Charles Mba, Nkem Ichita, Uche Enyioma and Innocent Dire, all members of ICT department, and Mrs Esther David, Secretary to the Resident Electoral Commission (REC).

After the earlier investigations and media battle between APGA and PDP, the case went cold.

AFN just gathered that the matter was recently reopened by the IG police and tension is all over INEC office Umuahia because heads will surely roll. Our source in Zone 9 Umuahia confirmed the information and even told us that all the suspects spent the day in Zone 9 yesterday where more interrogation was conducted.

Information we gathered again this evening revealed that all the suspects have been transferred to Force headquaters Abuja today.

Abia state is getting hot against impunity.
