The People’s Democratic Party in Abia State, in furtherance of its position on the desperation and attendant conspiracy by Mt. Uche Ogah and cohorts, has considered it very necessary to make the following statements;

(1)That the Party still stands on its position that the judgment of Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja which assumed to have sacked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of AbiaState was perverse and grossly unjust;
(2)That the Party’s position is incontrovertibly informed by our knowledge of the fact that Governor Ikpeazu was a public servant who paid his taxes appropriately under the Pay AsYou Earn (PAYE) system;
(3)That the haste with which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) issued a Certificate of return to Mr. Ogah, without giving Governor Ikpeazu the benefit of the judicial windows available to him, irrespective of the pendency of his appeal in the Court of Appeal, is condemnable, obnoxious and holistically unacceptable;
(4)That the Party, hereby, recollects that the Governorship election of 2015 in Abia State came in two phases, that of April 11 which was declared inconclusive by the Electoral body and that of April 25 which conclusively declared and confirmed Okezie Ikpeazu as the Governor-elect of Abia State;
(5)That Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s Certificate of return is a product of the elections of April 11 and April 25 of 2015, as properly reflected on the Certificate of return;
(6)That the Party vehemently rejects the Certificate of return erroneously issued to Mr. Ogah for, among many other reasons, the enormous fact that the Certificate of return failed to reflect the fact that the Governorship election took place on two different days.
Finally, the Party, once again, expresses her absolute confidence in the judiciary and calls on Mr. Ogah and his cohorts to allow the course of justice to determine this case.

Sir Don Ubani, KSC,JP
